Abstract
This Action-Research seeks to explore students’ natural conversations by telling personal stories. To help students’ oral performance, in this research project students read short stories from around the globe and then analyzed them critically followed by a classroom discussion about social issues. This was done for two reasons: to raise students’ cultural awareness and to provide a platform for them to think and speak about their personal memories, stories, and experiences. This study emphasizes the need to take into account spoken grammar in the EFL classroom, and shows the positive effects of using literature to address social problems in the classroom conversation, and for students to connect these telling personal stories.
