- ItemCalceolaria flavida (Calceolariaceae) a new endemic species to central Chile(2021) Lavandero, Nicolas; Santilli, Ludovica; Perez, FernandaA new species of Calceolaria sect. Cheiloncos endemic to central Chile is described. A comparison with the morphologically similar species Calceolaria asperula and Calceolaria petioalaris is made, and a key as well as detailed images to differentiate them is provided. The species is only known from the Natural Sanctu-ary Cerro El Roble, which is part of the coastal mountain range of central Chile and can be considered as Critically Endangered (CR) under the IUCN categories and criteria.
- Item[en] Statistical literacy based on relevant contexts with 7-8-years old children(2023) Alsina, Angel; Muniz-Rodriguez, Laura; Rodriguez-Muniz, Luis J.; Garcia-Alonso, Israel; Vasquez, Claudia; Lopez-Serentill, PaulaComprehension of statistical tables (tally and frequency tables) was analysed with 78 Spanish 7-8-year old pupils from three schools. Using a mixed descriptive and exploratory approach, based on a conventional content analysis, an activity was designed and analysed based on data from the COVID-19 context, structured in four phases: initial dialogue, individual, small group and large group work. The focus of the analysis is on the construction of tables and their interpretation, together with transnumeration. The data reveal: 1) a good level of children interest, participation and capacity for reflection; 2) most of the children were able to draw up tally tables and half of them were able to transnumerate the data into frequency tables, detecting some difficulties and errors both in the execution and in the subsequent interpretation. It is concluded that these results allow a better understanding of the development of statistical literacy in children and, consequently, provide relevant data for designing more efficient teacher training programmes.
- ItemPHOTOACOUSTIC TOMOGRAPHY IN ATTENUATING MEDIA WITH PARTIAL DATA(2022) Palacios, BenjaminThe attenuation of ultrasound waves in photoacoustic and ther-moacoustic imaging presents an important drawback in the applicability of these modalities. This issue has been addressed previously in the applied and theoretical literature, and some advances have been made on the topic. In particular, stability inequalities have been proposed for the inverse problem of initial source recovery with partial observations under the assumption of unique determination of the initial pressure. The main goal of this work is to fill this gap, this is, we prove the uniqueness property for the inverse prob-lem and establish the associated stability estimates as well. The problem of reconstructing the initial condition of acoustic waves in the complete-data set-ting is revisited and a new Neumann series reconstruction formula is obtained for the case of partial observations in a semi-bounded geometry. A numerical simulation is also included to test the method.
- ItemPhysical Education as a colonial and neoliberal category: transiting towards the thinking of human motricity in and from Abya Yala(2021) Toro Arevalo, Sergio Alejandro; Moreno Dona, AlbertoIn this article we present a critique of the Chilean and Latin American educational system from the concepts of neoliberalism and modernity as a civilizing project focused on the denial of otherness. From there we justify the impossibility of a Physical Education that, as physical, separates, excludes and denies the various ways of living. We end up proposing human motricity as an ontological and epistemological alternative, understood as the capacity-condition of making-the world, from which it is possible to think about the educational.
