Abstract
This paper presents a theoretical study of the influence of soil cohesion on the design of the embedded deep of diaphragm walls and the displacements developed by these structures. Two theoretical models have been selected for this purpose, with geological and geotechnical conditions representative of a typical granular soil of Madrid. The calculation models used are the method of soil reaction based on a model of Winkler's space; and the finite element method. Both methods have been tested with the commercial software RIDO and PLAXIS. In addition, the stability of the diaphragm walls was taken into account as stated in the Spanish Technical Specifications for Construction.
