dc.description.abstract | Gibberellin (GA3) applications is one of the essential management practices for table grapes. This study compared three advanced table grape segregants obtained from the breeding program (Consorcio de la Fruta-PUC). Given their different genetic backgrounds, the harvest of these grapes differs both in their seasonality and in their response to GA3 applications. Good quality berries were obtained with less quantity and frequency of GA3 applications (>25 ppm). The effect of GA3 applications on the evaluated segregants showed an increase in weight of 20-40%, in size of 10-30% of the berries, and finally, a decrease in seed size of 30-80%. At the histological level, it was found that in the berries treated with GA3 at 7-30 daa, all the segregants showed an increase in the number of cells of 30-55% and in the size of the mesocarp at 22% with respect to the control. In the physiological analyses, the segregants showed an increase in stomatal conductance and transpiration accompanied by a foliar supply of potassium in the plants treated with GA3. Despite the differences between the segregants in terms of response to GA, each displays characteristics that make it suitable to be registered as a new variety. One possible contribution of this study would be to indicate that all segregants need fewer GA applications; furthermore, the influence of climatic and some physiological parameters that may be decisive in the effect of GA3 | |
