    Emotions as part of parenting in the context of international migrationLas emociones en el proceso de crianza en contexto de migración internacional

However, when they raise their children in the context of migration, these emotions are also influenced by the difficulties of the migratory process, the related sense of loss, and relationships in the mothers’ places of origin and destination. This article explores and analyses the family relationships and emotions of Latin American migrant mothers. The authors examine their experience of the task of parenting as well as their relationship with the migratory process and sense of loss. Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted and a discussion group was formed with migrant mothers currently living in Santiago de Chile. It was observed that the migratory process is marked by certain moments that generate different emotions, which are reflected in the task of parenting. The article concludes that there are dimensions that influence such emotions on a daily basis and place a strain on the task of parenting, as well as cultural aspects that are intertwined in the way such women raise their children.
