- ItemImplementación de la acupuntura: Desafíos y beneficios(2025) Ramírez Bahamondes, Gaspar Ignacio; Chang Rathkamp, Mayling Raquel; Lara Campos, Loreto Andrea; Elgueta Le-beuffe, María FranciscaIntroduction: Acupuncture, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) technique, has gained popularity in the West, a fact promoted by the WHO, with notable growth in its adoption in conventional healthcare systems. Its integration into conventional healthcare services faces both benefits and challenges. Objective: To explore and analyze the current state of integration of acupuncture and traditional medicine into conventional healthcare settings around the world. The study seeks to describe the effectiveness, benefits, challenges, and best practices associated with its implementation. Method: A descriptive approach was used, including a literature review and interviews with healthcare professionals. Results: The literature review shows that, thanks to global and local policies, there is a growing integration of TCM and acupuncture internationally and in Chile. A series of benefits for the patient, the therapist, and the institution are presented, but also some challenges related to this implementation in a conventional healthcare network, which are associated with issues of access, financing, and communication. Conclusions: The integration of acupuncture into conventional medicine could improve patient well-being and promote a more holistic approach to disease treatment. This brings many benefits, but also poses challenges that require work to expand its dissemination and incorporation and improve its impact.
