It is considered a gel whose application is similar to hyaluronic acid, giving an excellent aesthetic result. It is preferably used in HIV-positive patients, because of their immunosuppression state, due to the risk of producing granulomas. Aquamid® from the European Company Contura is a polyacrylamide gel that can be applied to the face and the body, with the most frequent side effects occurring when it is used in glabella and lips. In spite of having good cosmetic results, it is avoided in immunocompetent individuals or patients with autoimmune diseases. We only use this treatment in patients with HIV.
