The host galaxy appears to be PGC 67413 = ESO 145-G16. Joseph Brimacombe, Cairns, Australia, reports that ten stacked 600-s CCD images (limiting magnitude 20) taken remotely with a 32-cm RCOS telescope (+ STL6K camera + clear filter) at the Macedon Ranges Observatory near Melbourne, Australia, on Aug. 29.727 show the new object to be at mag 18.3 and located approximately 7" west and 7" south of the presumed host-galaxy nucleus. Another stacked image (seven 1200-s frames; limiting magnitude 20), taken by Brimacombe on Sept. 2.636 with a 40-cm RCOS telescope (+ U16 camera + red filter) at the Coral Towers Observatory (Cairns), yields mag 18.6 for 2010hj; the Sept. 2 stacked image has been posted at the following website URL: http://www.flickr.com/photos/43846774@N02/4952444311/....

The spectrum indeed shows strong hydrogen H-alpha at 669.1 nm, mainly in emission with a full-width-at-half-maximum of about 7400 km/s....

Using the distance module of 34.14 for UGC 12271 (Mould et al. 2000, Ap.J. 529, 786; via the NED website) and an apparent magnitude of 17.7, 2011fz has an absolute magnitude of -16.45, which is consistent with magnitudes of type-Ib/c supernovae at this phase....

The best-fit SNID templates are for 1991T-like type-Ia supernovae between 37 and 45 days post-maximum at z = 0.034....

After cross-correlated with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), the best fit was with a normal type-Ia supernova and similar to SN 1998aq at an epoch of 66 days (Branch et al. 2003, A.J. 126, 1489). Fitting with SNID yields a redshift of 0.053....

Bufano, INAF, Osservatorio Astronomico di Catania, on behalf of a larger collaboration, report that a spectrum of TCP J05060576-4503003 = SN 2011gx, obtained on Oct. 18.17 UT with the New Technology Telescope (+ EFOSC2; range 360-930 nm; resolution 1.8 nm) shows it to be a type-II supernova. The best fit to this spectrum found by GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383; publicly available at https://gelato.tng.iac.es) is with spectra of type- II-plateau supernovae at about one month post-explosion. Together with the classical P-Cyg Balmer features, prominent lines of Ca II, Fe II, and Na I D are detected. Adopting a recessional velocity of 9821 km/s for ESO 252-G10 (Lauberts and Valentijn, 1989, THE SURFACE PHOTOMETRY CATALOGUE OF THE ESO- UPPSALA GALAXIES, European Southern Obsrvatory) the expansion velocity deduced from the H_alpha absorption is about 8000 km/s....

Berlind with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows that 2011hb is a type-Ia supernova several days before maximum light. SNID finds that the best fit is to a template from the normal type-Ia supernova 2005cf at -10 days. The Si II 635.5-nm feature is broad and asymmetrical; an estimated redshift of z = 0.028924 for NGC 7674 (Nishiura et al. 2000, A.J. 120, 1691) is used to measure the velocity at the minimum of this feature to be about 14700 km/s

A comparison of the observed spectrum with a library of supernova spectra using the "GELATO" code (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383) suggests that 2011hm is a type-II supernova. A broad H_alpha feature with P-Cyg profile is visible, along with a number of Fe II features. From the position of the minimum of the H_alpha absorption, an expansion velocity of the ejecta of about 13000 km/s is deduced....

Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that a CCD spectrum (range 310-1020 nm), obtained on Oct. 31 UT with the Keck I 10-m telescope (+ LRIS), shows that PSN J11441295+3330581 = SN 2011ho is a type-Ia supernova near maximum brightness. The spectrum exhibits a large Si II 597.2-nm/635.5-nm ratio, indicating a cooler photosphere and a lower luminosity. The spectrum is similar to that of SN 1986G at -3 days (Phillips et al. 1987, PASP 99, 592), but it also resembles spectra of the more typical type-Ia supernovae 1992A and 2004eo at a similar epoch. After removing the recession velocity of 9520 km/s (obtained from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey), the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm feature is blueshifted by 11700 km/s. G. H. Marion, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that a spectrum (range 340-740 nm) of PSN J11441295+3330581 = 2011ho was obtained on Nov. 3 UT by P. Berlind with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows that 2011ho is a 1991bg-like type-Ia supernova near maximum light. Good fits can be found to several templates of normal and 1991bg-like type-Ia supernovae within three days of maximum. The presence of a strong feature from Si II 597.2-nm and the reported brightness of 2011ho are consistent with a subluminous, or 1991bg-like, type-Ia supernova. Using an estimated redshift of z = 0.031829 for NGC 3847 as reported in NED (de Vaucouleurs et al. 1991, RC3.9C), the velocity of the Si II 635.5-nm and 597.2-nm features are estimated to be 10700 km/s and 10500 km/s, respectively....
