Escuela de MedicinaIntroducción: Los odontólogos indican que uno de los aspectos en que no se sienten preparados al titularse es en la gestión de recursos para la atención odontológica. Esto es importante para el correcto uso de los recursos disponibles para la resolución de las necesidades de atención de los pacientes. En el curso salud pública de los estudiantes de tercer año de Odontología UC, un aspecto menor valorado era la metodología. Se diseñaron talleres con metodología CBL para vincular contenidos teóricos con los programas de atención odontológica nacionales. El objetivo de este articulo es describir la experiencia del diseño de los talleres y su evaluación. Objetivo: Incorporar talleres de programas odontológicos con metodolgía aprendizaje basado en casos en el curso salud pública de pregrado de odontología de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Metodología: Estudio transversal sobre la experiencia y evaluación de incorporación de talleres con metodología CBL. Se diseñaron cinco talleres, el año 2018 se presentaron los casos en papel y el año 2019 se incorporó como complemento el uso de podcast. Se evaluaron los niveles 1 y 2 del modelo de Kirkpatrick. Resultados: Se realizaron los talleres en los años 2018 y 2019 con 137 estudiantes en total (68 del 2018 y 69 del 2019). Los estudiantes valoraron positivamente la inclusión de talleres con CBL y percibieron haber aprendido. El promedio de notas de las tareas de los talleres fue de 6,5 el 2018 y 6,3 el 2019. Conclusiones: CBL en la docencia de salud pública en odontología permite a los alumnos la aplicación de los contenidos teóricos, favoreciendo su motivación, la percepción de objetivos alcanzados y el sentido de la presencia del curso en la carrera. Esta investigación se llevó a cabo en el contexto de la Actividad de Graduación del Magíster en Educación Médica y de Ciencias de la Salud de la Facultad de Medicina

The aim of this study was to assess the validity of the self-report on the total number of teeth in the general Chilean adult population. Methods A substudy was conducted on ENS 2016–2017 participants. A stratified random sample of 101 of them was subjected to a telephone questionnaire. This information was then compared with the results obtained from the oral examination performed by a trained nurse during a home visit. Spearman correlations, intraclass correlation coefficients and the Bland-Altman method were used to analyse the data. Results In men, the average number of teeth recorded during the oral examination coincided with the number of teeth in the self-report (22 teeth). In women, the total teeth average was 18 and 19 teeth according to the examination and self-report, respectively. For the total number of participants, a strong and significant Spearman correlation was obtained (ρ = 0.93); in men and women, the Spearman correlation observed was also strong and significant (ρ = 0.90 and ρ = 0.96 respectively). The value of the intraclass correlation coefficient indicated a significant concordance (CCI = 0.96) in both men and women (CCI = 0.93 and 0.98 respectively). A tendency to greater correlation was observed as the number of teeth decreased. Conclusions The number of teeth self-reported by the subjects in this study correlated with the number of teeth recorded in the clinical examination.
