New technologies and regulatory changes are producing a change from the distribution networks classical model, both from the point of view of the end user becoming an active player, and from the distribution network perspective by incorporating distributed generation (DG). This work intends to illustrate an algorithm that sequentially optimize the location and sizing of two sets of DG units connected to a medium voltage (MV) distribution network, taking into account both the incentive for reducing energy losses given by the Chilean regulator and considering the technical operating restrictions of the network.
